About this course

Industrial Design (ID) is the professional service of creating and developing concepts and specifications that optimize the function, value and appearance of products and systems for the mutual benefit of both user and manufacturer. With the rise in concern for new products and new business opportunities, it becomes significant to explore the possibilities of new products and businesses through the domain of Industrial Design.

The objective of the course is to open the field of industrial design to the participants, addressing its role in innovation and entrepreneurship. The programme aims to excite by examples in industrial design through which the scope of innovation opens new doors that would further lead to entrepreneurship. This programme will be mostly practice based, wherein the candidates will be exposed to understanding users, identification of a possible business opportunity, generation of concepts, and selection of concepts, refinement and prototyping. About The Institute

IIT Delhi

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is one of the 5 initial IITs established for training, research and development in science, engineering and technology in India. Established as College of Engineering in 1961, the Institute was later declared as an Institution of National Importance under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963” and was renamed as “Indian Institute of Technology Delhi”. It was then accorded the status of a Deemed University with powers to decide its own academic policy, to conduct its own examinations, and to award its own degrees.

Q. How will I be evaluated during the program?

Ans. Candidates who have enrolled for the IIT Delhi’s Certificate Programme in Industrial Design, Innovation and Entrepreneurship will be evaluated based on their attendance to the live lectures-which should be a minimum of 70%. Also, the program requires full participation and engagement of the students throughout all the sessions. There will be a regular progress evaluation during the course and it requires active participation from the candidates. Periodic submission of tasks will be held with scheduled presentations. These criteria have been designed with an aim to ensure continuous student engagement so that they don’t miss out on anything and learn everything deeply and effectively. Candidates who successfully fulfil these evaluation criteria will be awarded a certificate of completion from IIT Delhi. Participants who are unable to clear the evaluation criteria but have the requisite attendance will be awarded a Participation Certificate.
